ALEXA, YOU’RE SUCH A DARLING!

Recently, i was reading somewhere that in coming years BMW and Volvo will have smart assistants built into their cars. Considering the pace at which technology is being adapted, home assistants will soon be remarkably omnipresent.

For my younger nephew whose only 7, Alexa is no less than an Aladdin genie. The other day I saw him busy in his room babbling with Alexa,, Alexa play Michael Jackson, Alexa play Lakdi ki kathi and the list was endless!

I guess everyone needs a secretary sometimes, to take care of errands when all you want to do is sink into a comfy chair with a book.

I was wondering despite initially being confined to our phones, these virtual secretaries are now moving right into our spaces...but are we ready to lay out the welcome mat?

Iam sure it will get adapted in our lives sooner or later but for now I feel these gadgets can be useful to senior citizens or people with mobility issues, who can adjust connected device with just a command.

One can set reminders to help with medicine schedules and appointments, or simply ask the assistant to switch on a TV.

The fact that these gadgets use regular conversation breaks down the age barrier as well.

Homes with children also reap the benefits. Need some help with homework? Just ask the assistant.

These gadgets are so user friendly that even kids can use it to play their favourite lullabies.

Just a thought!
